Last Thursday, 40 Year 10 students travelled to Aachen in Germany to kick start their visit to the European Christmas markets. Upon arriving at the hostel, the students savoured a typical German breakfast before venturing into the heart of Aachen for a guided tour of the city. The tour provided insights into Aachen's rich history, including an exploration of the cathedral — one of Europe's oldest — and offered the chance to taste Printen, a renowned Aachen cake. As night fell, students immersed themselves in the festive atmosphere of Aachen's Christmas markets.
Saturday morning marked our transition to Lille, France. In this lively French city, students delved into its vibrancy, taking a spin on the ferris wheel and indulging in a traditional Flammekueche at a local French restaurant. On our final day in France, we visited the snow-covered Vimy Ridge Canadian memorial. Amidst the historical site, students descended into a World War One trench, gaining a poignant experience, and explored the on-site museum, rounding off their educational and cultural journey.

It was a fun trip, we got to try lot of different food that you wouldn't get in England - even McDonalds is different! It was great to be able to speak French when in the shops. We had a really fun time!"
