EmpowerED: Our Digital Strategy

Maximising Progress and Learning

At Windsor High School and Sixth Form, our 1:1 digital learning approach equips all students from Year 7 to Year 11 with their own iPad, to be used both at school and at home. This initiative, which is fully embedded across our schools, reflects our ongoing commitment to unlocking academic and personal potential.

Since launching in 2019, we have evolved our strategy to EmpowerED, a holistic approach to education that empowers students through a focus on curriculum, pedagogy, meta cognition, and self-regulation. EmpowerED builds expertise while fostering civic engagement and sustainability. By blending existing teaching practices with innovative new methodologies and technology, we ensure that both staff and classrooms are equipped to inspire and personalise learning experiences.

Through extensive research, we recognised the positive impact of digital technology in education, leading to the introduction of iPads across more year groups as the programme expanded. The success of this initiative is evident in the boost to digital literacy, accessibility, and engagement across the curriculum, fundamentally changing the way our students learn.

1:1 digital learning, now under the EmpowerED framework, plays a vital role in enhancing creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. It equips students with the digital skills they need for future success, while also promoting self-directed learning and collaboration. By embedding technology into the curriculum, we provide students with the tools they need for personal growth, academic achievement, and to contribute to a sustainable future.
