To develop an understanding of the theoretical and practical components of Physical Education and how they relate to their own and others performances.

You will receive a well-rounded and full introduction to the world of PE, sport and sport science by developing an understanding of how the mind and body works in relation to performance in physical activity. This course will also offer you the opportunity to develop your skills in a wide range of sports and activities which will help you improve your own performance.

You will also have the opportunity to perform a wide range of activities, you will be assessed in three activities.
Assessment
External Exams – 60%
At the end of the course the two external exams will assess your knowledge and understanding of the theory element of the course (there are range of question types - multiple choice, short answer and extended answer questions).
Practical – 40%
You will be assessed in three of your strongest sports (one team activity, one individual activity and a free choice). You will also complete an Analysis and Evaluation (coursework) for one of your chosen sports.

Where can it take me?
A good grade at GCSE Physical Education will enable you to continue with the subject onto the Advanced Level Physical Education course. Alternatively, you may wish to consider a more vocationally related course such as CTEC Level 3 in Sport, which is also offered at Windsor Sixth Form.
