Exam Board: Edexcel
The nature of the course is very ‘hands on’ with involvement from a range of local businesses. You will have the opportunity to meet local entrepreneurs and explore the enterprises that they are successfully running. You will leave the course with a robust understanding of what makes a business successful, and will be fully equipped with a number of employability skills that will support you in all stages of life.
Assessment
The course consists of 3 components:
Component 1: Exploring Enterprise (Coursework assignments 30%)
Component 2: Planning for and Pitching an Enterprise Activity (Coursework assignments 30%)
Component 3: Promotion and Finance for Enterprise (Exam 40%)
Throughout the two year course you will learn about the fundamental elements to business success. The coursework components take away the pressure from 100% examined courses and you will have one opportunity to re-sit the exam to achieve the highest grade possible.
Key skills
You will learn how to produce financial documents and promotional materials for a business enhancing your numeracy skills and harnessing your creativity. You will also be able to write professional reports, improve your time-management through meeting regular deadlines as well as improving your interpersonal and communication skills through discussions and presentations.
This course sits perfectly alongside any other subject and the skills you will develop will not only benefit you at school but also in your journey beyond Windsor High School and Sixth Form.
