  • Health and Social care services and values - Learning about the different roles of the primary and secondary health and social care services in diagnosing, treating and supporting people through different health conditions. Understanding and demonstrating the care values that must be shown when working in the healthcare industry with patients (internally assessed through written reports).
  • Health and wellbeing - This is a synoptic unit and includes analysing health data to create health improvement plans to meet the health needs of individuals (externally assessed through an exam).

Where can it take me?

About three million people work in health or social care. Health care roles include doctors, pharmacists, nurses, midwives and health care assistants, while social care roles include care assistants, occupational therapists, counsellors and administrative roles. Together they account for nearly one in 10 of all paid jobs in the UK. Demand for both health and social care is likely to rise so they will continue to play a key role in UK society, and the demand for people to fill these vital jobs will increase.
