Curriculum Intent

Creative iMedia equips students with the wide range of knowledge and skills needed to work in the creative digital media sector.  They start at pre-production and develop their skills through practical assignments as they create final multimedia products.

Course description

Exam Board: OCR

Digital media is a key part of many areas of our everyday lives and vital to the UK economy. Production of digital media products is a requirement of almost every business so there is huge demand for a skilled and digitally literate workforce.

The examined unit looks at the planning of media products. Planning is an essential part of working in the creative and digital media sector. The unit enables students to acquire the underpinning knowledge and skills needed to create digital media products and gain an understanding of their application.

The following units use and build upon this knowledge through the study and creation of a number of different digital media products, starting with the basics of digital graphic creation. This leads on to the creation of more complex media products, which utilise a wide range of different software skills.

Components:

R093: Creative iMedia in the media industry

R094: Visual identity and digital graphics

Students will also study a further optional internally assessed component.
