Year 12 Geographers have visited Dorset this week. During this time they have collect both human and physical data to improve their knowledge, understanding and skills.
On Wednesday they spent the day in Boscombe, looking at regeneration of the town centre and sea front. On Thursday, students travelled to Chesil Beach where they collected data at two sites, creating a beach profile, analysing longshore drift, wave type and sediment size. In the afternoon, they visited Swanage where they looked at human intervention at the coast, analysing the impact that coastal management has in protecting the coastline.
Before coming back on Friday, students went to Studland to look at Old Harry’s Rocks and to undertake a sand dune transect.
The behaviour of the students was impeccable with all students engaged and eager to apply the knowledge learnt in the classroom, especially on their evening sessions while away. Miss Hodnette, Mr Langford and Miss Popratnjak all enjoyed watching the snooker competitions, hearing the cheers from table tennis and the sing-alongs on the minibus! Massive well done to all students!
