27th November 2025
The Windsor Year 7 Rugby squad enjoyed an unforgettable weekend after being treated to match tickets (through the RFU schools programme) to watch England face Argentina in the Quilter Nations Series at the home of English rugby, Twickenham. The excitement of the day was only matched by the thrilling action on the pitch - plus a surprise meeting with a rugby legend!
England 27 - 23 Argentina
England started as the stronger of the two sides, surging to an early 17-3 lead before the half-time whistle. Centre Max Ojomoh, who had an outstanding game, opened the scoring with a well-worked try, followed by a second from winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso. Fly-half George Ford added crucial points, including an early drop goal. However, the Pumas, known for their fighting spirit, mounted a fierce second-half comeback.
Two powerful tries and some accurate penalty kicking brought Argentina back to within a single point, setting up a truly tense finale. Just when it looked like the momentum had completely shifted, England steadied the ship. Centre Henry Slade finished a well-executed move to score a vital try, giving England just enough breathing room.
A late Argentinian try in the dying moments threatened to flip the result, but England managed to hang on, clearing the ball into touch to secure a 27–23 victory and complete their unbeaten home run for 2025. The match was a fantastic display of attacking flair, physical defence, and high drama, a perfect spectacle for the Windsor students to witness live.
The day’s biggest highlight, however, came off the pitch. Our Year 7 team had the privilege of meeting former England and British and Irish Lions winger, Ugo Monye. The Harlequins legend and popular pundit spent time with our students, chatting and taking photos.
For the young players, getting to speak to someone who played on the very pitch they had just watched was an inspirational moment that capped off a brilliant day of rugby. Our Year 7 squad represented Windsor Rugby Club and our school impeccably and can take away some fantastic memories and motivation for their season ahead.
Well done everyone! Mr Hickman and Mr Lowe
