From the studios of Windsor High School to the stage of the Midlands Arts Centre, our dancers have been on an incredible journey of creativity and discipline. This past Monday, 20 of our talented students from the High School and Sixth Form took part in the prestigious 'Making Moves Project' in collaboration with the world-renowned Sadler’s Wells Theatre.
From London Training to Windsor Talent
The seeds of this project were sown back in September, when Mrs. McLaughlin travelled to London for an intensive training weekend at Sadler’s Wells. Working alongside dance educators from across the country, she had the unique opportunity to train directly with Olivier Award-winning choreographer Ivan Blackstock.
Using Blackstock’s specialized "choreography toolkit," Mrs. McLaughlin brought these professional insights back to Windsor. Over the past few months, our dancers have explored complex movement tasks and creative ideas to build something truly original.
'In Lucem': Into the Light
The result of this hard work is a captivating six-minute contemporary piece titled 'In Lucem'—Latin for "Into the Light." Monday’s event at the Midlands Arts Centre was the culmination of this rigorous process. It wasn't just about the final performance; our students immersed themselves in a full day of professional development, including:
What’s next? We are now eagerly awaiting the judges' results. If successful, our troupe will head to the National Platform for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform on the legendary stage at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London.
Regardless of the outcome, we are thrilled with their achievement. Huge congratulations to all the dancers involved!
