10th October 2023
On the evening of the 22nd of September, I was lucky enough to be able to visit Leicester Space Centre (for my 7th time!) to attend their Space Lates event and Space Sleepover.
The general theme was, "Is there life out there?", which was an amazing topic to work with. I saw a live talk from Professor Sanjeev Gupta, who is a Professor of Earth Science at Imperial College London, called Adventures of Robot Geologists on Mars, and also Dr Sarah Casewell, an astronomer, who spoke about investigating alien worlds. I then took part in stargazing with some professional stargazers!
We also viewed a special showing of a tour of the summer night sky and a Disney film in the Planetarium. We then got to get changed into our pyjamas before having another hour to free roam the exhibitions until 11pm, pretty much in the dark, and then finding a spot anywhere in these exhibitions to bed down. I'm proud to say I've now had the honour of sleeping under a space toilet!!
Overall, this was a truly amazing experience that I have learnt an awful lot from!
