The school library normally arranges a Festival of Literature in June each year with visiting authors and events. A virtual event has been arranged for Wednesday 30th June during which Mitch Johnson will be speaking to Year 7 and 8 students about his work.
Alongside this, the library is running a competition. Year 7 and 8 students are invited to have a go and could win a signed copy of either Kick or Pop! by Mitch Johnson.
Mitch Johnson’s latest book is based on a secret fizzy drink recipe being washed up in a pop bottle on a beach. What fictional message would you put into a pop bottle? Or think about a message you might have found inside a bottle, what did it say and where in the world did it come from? The message could be in the form of a story, a poem or you could even use images!
Details have been shared with students on the Google Classroom – a reminder can be found here.
Students may like to use a similar template to this or pick up an entry form from the school library.
Entries will be shortlisted and the winner will be picked by the author.
Submit entries by Google Form by midday on Monday 28th June or return paper entries to the library by 9.00am on Tuesday 29th June. (The name and photo associated with the student’s Google Account will be recorded when the files are uploaded and submitted with the form.)
Good luck!
