Windsor High School and Sixth Form recently held its prestigious Sports Awards Evening, an event dedicated to celebrating the outstanding achievements of its students in sports throughout the academic year. The evening was marked by recognition of excellence in a variety of sporting categories, including Player of the Year, Leadership and Community awards, as well as team accolades. It also paid tribute to those who have shown exceptional dedication, perseverance, and passion for sports.
Adding an extra layer of inspiration to the evening were two special guests - Keren Allen, Captain of Wrexham AFC Women, and Kerys Harrop, former Tottenham Hotspur FC Women player. Both women are former students of Windsor High School and Sixth Form, and their return as presenters of the awards brought a sense of pride and motivation for the students. Their presence highlighted the opportunities and success that can be achieved through hard work and dedication, something they both exemplified throughout their careers.
The night was filled with excitement as students were awarded for their contributions and accomplishments across a wide range of sports, including football, netball, rugby, athletics, and more.
We also celebrated our links with Old Halesonians Hockey Club, who attended the event to collect their award for Partnership of the Year.
The evening’s special guests, Keren Allen and Kerys Harrop, gave heartfelt speeches about their time at Windsor High School and Sixth Form. They shared their personal journeys in sports, offering invaluable advice and encouragement to the students.
Both Allen and Harrop are shining examples of what Windsor High School’s sports program can nurture - students who not only excel in their chosen sports but go on to achieve great things in their careers.
The Sports Awards Evening at Windsor High School and Sixth Form was a fitting tribute to the hard work, dedication, and achievements of its students and the dedication of our PE staff. It was a celebration of the school’s strong sporting culture, one that fosters talent and encourages students to strive for excellence, not just in sports but in all aspects of life.
